Food & Clothing Drive Nov 6 in NYC!!

Peace! I've been working closely with the Pricetags Ent team and have build a family style relationship with them. We felt like we wanted to do a new event for a good cause so we brainstormed and figured we can holla at Hasan Salaam to team up and do a food and clothing drive. What better way then to do something for the kids considering the present economic crisis in addition to the upcoming American Holiday season!

The below event is going to be very powerful and filled with a lot of powerful performers... Please come to support us at @ Karma Lounge on November 6, 2009 Located at 51 First Avenue (Between 3rd and 4th streets) in Lower Manhattan. Be there by 6:30 PM!

Last Night BBAS Thursday & MORE!

Last night was so incredible!

Brown Bag AllStars (BBAS) Thursday was super packed, especially on a
night where there was an incredible tribute to the Late DJ Roc Raida.
I was lucky to have met him through MF GRIMM and he was such a great
pioneer for the DJ element of hip hop. Rest In Peace

At my show last night, something happened once again that I can't explain. You just had to be there. Me, my boy Majesty and this young poetess named Shreen tore Brown Bag Allstars Thursday night apart! It was probably one of the most unique stage performances I've ever done because of the way we mixed spoken word poetry with hip hop! Like I said you just had to be there. haha..

There was probably 100 people there and to see that type of reaction from the crowd showed me the true power of words...I was humbled! We did pretty good from what I was told ;-)

In addition to my 3 bosses from my day job showing up to support me (yes my bosses were there to support me!!!) there was a legendary hip hop photographer in the house that photographed over 25 years of hip hop history. He's also the author of the book "Who Shot Ya?" ...his name.. Brother Ernie. He's responsible for tons of images that documented the birth of "Hip Hop!" For a pioneer like that to show that kind of love, man... I was really humbled...just blow away...he got some
snapshots of me tearing up the stage so hopefully I can post those soon.. ;-) Shouts to the BBAS especially J57 for booking me to do the show..I really appreciate that bro! Yesterday was a blessing! The freestyle cypher at the end..was crazy.. Majesty, DVS, Joe Columbo, J Money and Concept went bonkers!

homeschooled

Yesterday I talked to a guidance counselor from ATL on the phone. I was helping her obtain her username and password to get back into a particular website.

The counselor's phone etiquette was not the best at all actually but the counselor herself was really kind. After waiting in a few moments of confusion while patiently waiting to answer her questions I overhear her say:

"Come by tomorrow before class, I know you may lose your house, and I know money's tight but I will help you get the fee waiver so you can take this test"

The counselor while talking to me, was multi-tasking holding down an emotionally unstable student. I totally felt the insignificance of my personal issues. This young teen was going through something amazingly difficult.

Shelter is soooo important...it's a necessity for survival. I really felt for that child. What was so important was when hearing the counselor encourage the student in such a powerful way, I felt like this counselor totally bonds with her students the way that guidance counselors should. The counselor actually sounded like the students' mom at one point. It was amazing because working at the job I work at, I run into counselors all the time that just don't care enough...
